Full Story:
The board of directors and staff of the Nouveau Musée National de Monaco were saddened by the sudden passing of Marie-Claude Beaud (February 22, 1946 – December 29, 2024), who served as the director of the institution from 2009 to 2021. Known as a “great lady of museums,” Beaud broke the rules early on by incorporating various artistic disciplines into the museum and facilitating unprecedented dialogues and encounters. She also had a strong commitment to expanding and diversifying the audience. With this approach, along with the collaboration of artists and teams she assembled, Beaud left a lasting impact on the art institutions she encountered or created throughout her incredible career, including the museums of Grenoble and Toulon, the Fondation Cartier pour l’Art Contemporain in Jouy-en-Josas and Paris, the American Center in Paris, the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris, the Mudam in Luxembourg, and finally, the Nouveau Musée National de Monaco. We extend our deepest condolences to her family, loved ones, and all those who had the privilege of crossing paths with her, including artists, creators, curators, art historians, and colleagues.
