Full Story:
The Monte-Carlo Société des Bains de Mer (SBM) and the Monaco Basket Association (MBA) have formed a long-term partnership to support women’s basketball in Monaco. The SBM, a well-known sports sponsor in Monaco, will provide financial support as well as access to its prestigious facilities, including sports rooms, a spa, cryotherapy, and even the Monte-Carlo Bay Resort thermal baths. The goal of this partnership is to strengthen the physical and mental preparation of the MBA team, with ambitions to reach Ligue 2 and present a renewed team for the 2024-2025 season.
With a new team comprising five former players and five new recruits, the MBA aims to achieve promotion to Ligue 2 this season. Coach Olga Tarasenko is confident in their abilities after winning four preparation matches, including one against a higher division team. The first match of the season will take place this Saturday against Montpellier in the NF1, the third division of French basketball, at the Annonciade arena.
The MBA has ambitions that may require a larger venue than the current arena, including potentially playing in the Roca Team’s arena if they are promoted to Ligue 2. Lucie Laroche, the team captain, is determined to achieve their goals this season and is honored to have the partnership with SBM on their journey.
The President of the Monaco Basket Association, Éric Elena, expressed his pride and gratitude for the partnership with SBM, highlighting the progress the MBA has made over the years. The SBM’s support will continue to propel the team forward, promoting teamwork, personal growth, and the pursuit of excellence. The objective is to elevate the women’s team to new heights in French basketball and promote women’s sports in Monaco, ensuring they receive the recognition they deserve.
