Monaco’s iconic Stade Louis II celebrates 40 years since its inauguration by Prince Rainier III on January 25, 1985. Recognizable for its distinct arches, the multipurpose stadium remains a prominent feature of Monaco’s landscape, hosting major sporting, cultural, and community events over the past four decades. In honor of this milestone, several events are planned, including an official ceremony on February 4 that will highlight the stadium’s genesis and its significance to the people of Monaco. Additionally, an immersive exhibition titled “Il était une première fois” will open in April 2025 to showcase the diverse range of sports competitions, cultural performances, and other events that have taken place at the Stade Louis II. This exhibition, held in the renovated pedestrian street within the stadium, will feature historical moments such as the first football match, the first world record, the first archery competition, the first concert, and more. Visitors will have the opportunity to relive these moments through archives, photos, and posters. The stadium management has enlisted a scenographer and an exhibition curator to create this ambitious retrospective. Lastly, a commemorative stamp celebrating the 40 years of Stade Louis II will be released on March 18, 2025, for collectors and enthusiasts to cherish.
