Full Story:
Monaco has introduced a fleet of 28 seasonal electric taxis to enhance its transportation service during the summer influx of tourists and upcoming prestigious events in the Principality. The drivers, selected through an official call for applications published in the Journal de Monaco in October 2024, have been granted a limited six-month authorization to operate. In line with its environmental commitments and greenhouse gas reduction policy, Monaco has opted for a fully electric fleet of easily recognizable white vehicles. These taxis offer attractive packages, with prices starting at €18 for intramural trips and €25 for neighboring municipalities. During periods of high demand identified by the dispatch system, the taxis can expand their service area to Menton and Nice Ville. The deployment of this electric fleet is being carried out in three phases, allowing for optimal service throughout the season. From April 1 to September 30, eight seasonal taxis will be available, followed by an additional ten taxis from April 15 to October 15, and ten more from May 1 to November 1. This phased approach ensures that all taxis will be operational between May 1 and September 30, which corresponds to the peak period of the Principality’s busiest period. To ensure seamless service, 11 eco-taxis will operate at night from 9 pm to 5 am, and at least 7 vehicles will be available 24/7 by contacting +377 93 15 01 01. This initiative aligns with Monaco’s vision for sustainable mobility while maintaining the expected service excellence in the Principality.
