Full Story:
Monaco recently celebrated “100 years of women in motorsport” with the presentation of a new book at the Prince of Monaco’s Automobile Collection Museum. The book, titled “100 years of women: Motorsport & Monaco,” is published by Carob Tree Publishing, a female-led publishing house in Monaco. A portion of the book’s sales will go towards supporting the next generation of women in motorsports. The book, prefaced by Prince Albert II of Monaco and rally vice-world champion Michèle Mouton, showcases the greatest female drivers from rally to Formula 1 who have raced in Monaco. It includes profiles of women such as Michèle Mouton, Ella Häkkinen, Susie Wolff, and Sonia Irvine. The origins of motorsport in Monaco can be traced back to 1911 when Prince Albert I inaugurated the Monte-Carlo Rally. In 1929, a small race through the streets of the Principality became the Monaco Grand Prix. Following the book presentation, Prince Albert II offered honorary membership in the Automobile Club of Monaco to Michèle Mouton, who has won numerous rallies including the Sanremo Rally in 1981.
