Summary:
Monaco and Italy have ratified an agreement allowing teleworking between the two countries, with the new policy coming into effect on June 1, 2024.

Full Story:
Starting from June 1, 2024, the Principality of Monaco will allow teleworking for employees between Monaco and Italy. The amendment to the General Agreement on Social Security between Monaco and the Italian Republic, ratified by both countries, will come into effect on June 1, 2024. The Monegasque Government welcomes the completion of this file, which required several years of negotiations with Italy. The agreement defines teleworking and establishes that teleworkers residing in Italy can be subject to Monegasque social legislation throughout their teleworking activity for companies based in Monaco. This expansion of access to teleworking for a new group of employees is a significant step forward for both Monaco and Italy. It will efficiently address the challenges posed by the consequences of Monaco’s economic development, particularly the limited size of its territory, while promoting employment opportunities for Italian workers. Similar to teleworkers residing in France, teleworking will require a formalized employment contract or an addendum to the existing employment contract, with the obligation for the teleworking employee to spend at least one-third of their working time in the company to maintain the necessary connection with the teams. The Department of Labor is available to employers and employees for further information, either by phone at +377.98.98.86.59 or at their offices.
