Full Story:
Isabelle BERRO-AMADEÏ, Minister of External Relations and Cooperation and Interim Minister of State, attended the second meeting of the Franco-Italian cross-border cooperation committee in Nice. The committee, co-chaired by Jean-Noël BARROT, Minister of Europe and Foreign Affairs, and Antonio TAJANI, Vice-President of the Council of Ministers and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, was established by the “Treaty between the French Republic and the Italian Republic for strengthened bilateral cooperation,” known as the Quirinal Treaty. The Principality of Monaco was proposed as an observer state in these meetings considering its geographical proximity to the referenced basin of life. The purpose of this second meeting was to review the progress made on cross-border cooperation issues since the inaugural meeting, with a focus on transportation, the environment, education, and health. Two specific points pertaining to Monaco were discussed: the improvement of railway service on the Nice-Ventimiglia line and the management of water resources in the Roya Valley, which supplies water to the Principality. Minister BERRO-AMADEÏ expressed the Principality’s strong commitment to and oversight of the quality of railway service to Monaco’s station and the management of water resources in the Roya Valley.
