INEOS Britannia, owned by Sir Jim Ratcliffe and a member of the Yacht Club de Monaco (YCM), has emerged as the winner of the Louis Vuitton Cup, a key stage in the qualifiers for the 37th edition of the America’s Cup. The competition took place in Barcelona from August 29th to October 7th, 2024. With a score of 6-4, INEOS Britannia secured the final point needed to defeat Luna Rossa, the Italian team, benefitting from stronger winds than expected. Despite their determination to catch up, the Italian team was unable to maneuver effectively, allowing INEOS Britannia to maintain a comfortable lead throughout the race and cross the finish line 17 seconds ahead. The victorious crew will now face the Defender Emirates Team New Zealand, owned by Matteo de Nora, a member of the YCM’s Board of Directors, from October 12th to 21st.
