Full Story:
The Government of Monaco has initiated a program for energy transition, which includes important works to bring the lighting of the galleries in Monaco up to standard. As part of this initiative, the Direction de l’Aménagement Urbain (DAU) is replacing public lighting with LED fixtures, replacing the fluorescent and sodium lamps in the galleries of the Principality. These LED fixtures consume less energy and have a longer lifespan, lasting up to 80,000-100,000 hours compared to the outdated equipment that had to be replaced every 10 years. The replacement of the lighting will reduce the number of long-term tunnel closures and waste production. The DAU has already completed the works in the Sainte-Dévote – Débarcadère and La Digue tunnels and will continue the campaign to upgrade the public lighting in all the tunnels of the Dorsale. The tunnels will be closed successively from 9:30 pm to 6:00 am. The first phase will include the closure of the Rocher Nice tunnel, the Rocher tunnel, and the Canton tunnel. The second phase will involve the closure of the La Colle tunnel, the Dorsale tunnel, the Hélios tunnel, the Fontvieille descent, and the Rocher de Nice tunnel. The third phase will include the closure of the Dorsale tunnel, the Canton tunnel (T2ter), and the Larvotto tunnel.
