Summary:
The German Club in Monaco supports the National Biodiversity Strategy by financing the planting of 11 “bottle trees” in honor of Eugen Lämmle.

Full Story:
Céline Caron-Dagioni, Advisor to the Government-Minister of Equipment, Environment, and Urban Planning, unveiled a commemorative plaque with Wilma Lämmle in honor of her late husband, Eugen Lämmle. The plaque was revealed during the planting of eleven “Bottle Tree” trees on Avenue Princesse Grace, in front of the Grimaldi Forum, as part of the 50th anniversary of the International German Club of Monaco.

Ms. Caron-Dagioni commended the German Club’s initiative and Mrs. Lämmle’s significant contribution. She emphasized the importance of partnerships between the public and private sectors in implementing public policies that aim to adapt Monaco’s living environment to climate change. Such partnerships and donations are still in their infancy in the Principality, and they deserve encouragement.

The donation, dedicated to the purchase of trees for the renaturation of the city, is aligned with the National Biodiversity Strategy implemented by the Government. These trees, known as Bottle Trees, are suitable for the Mediterranean climate and its future changes. They are called Bottle Trees because of their ability to store water in their trunks during dry seasons.
