Thirty cadets from the Gendarmerie of Alpes-Maritimes were welcomed by the Prince’s Carabiniers for a day of discovery in Monaco. They were given a detailed presentation about the Carabiniers, including their human resources, techniques, and protective infrastructure. The cadets then visited the Museum of the Princes and Their Guards to learn about the history and role of the Carabiniers. Later, they shared lunch at the Moneghetti Barracks mess hall.
In the afternoon, the focus shifted to raising awareness among the youth about environmental and economic security issues, with an emphasis on the protection of marine spaces. Presentations by the Central Office for the Fight against Environmental and Public Health Offenses (OCLAESP), the Maritime Gendarmerie, and the “economic security” department allowed the cadets to gain a concrete understanding of the Gendarmerie’s missions in these areas. This initiative is aligned with the upcoming United Nations Ocean Conference (UNOC 2025) in Nice in June 2025, which will focus on the conservation and sustainable use of oceans, seas, and marine resources.
To delve further into maritime issues, the cadets visited the Oceanographic Institute, where they explored the challenges related to the preservation of marine spaces.
