The Zonta Club of Monaco, founded in 1994 by Alessandrina Franzoi-Aureglia, is dedicated to defending women’s rights, combating violence, and promoting equality in Monaco and internationally. The club follows international guidelines from organizations such as the United Nations, UNICEF, and the Council of Europe, focusing on urgent issues such as violence, forced marriages, and gender inequality. The club organizes conferences in Monaco to raise awareness on these topics and raise funds to combat forced marriages of young girls. Monaco itself is not exempt from violence against women, with 55 cases reported by the police in 2023, mostly committed by current or former partners. Education is a key component of the club’s actions, with scholarships awarded to deserving students in Monaco to encourage access to male-dominated careers. The Zonta Club also supports educational initiatives for younger generations through Z Club and Golden Z, promoting respect and the fight against violence. The Zonta Club of Monaco, along with its 16 members, is proud of its progress and remains committed to continuing its actions to eliminate violence against women.
