A recent conference organized by the Monaco Economic Board (MEB) and the Groupe Nice-Matin explored the relationship between culture and the Monégasque economy. The event took place on February 6, 2025, at MonacoTech.

The conference featured five cultural industry professionals and Lionel Beffre, a Government Advisor, who took turns discussing the topic. The discussion was moderated by Denis Carreaux, the editorial director of Groupe Nice-Matin.

Bruno Mantovani, the Artistic Director of the Festival Printemps des Arts Monte-Carlo, emphasized the cultural vision of Monaco and how it contributes to the success of the festival. Guillaume de Sardes, responsible for the development department of the Nouveau Musée National de Monaco (NMNM), echoed this sentiment, highlighting the importance of the museum in attracting residents who appreciate quality.

The Director of the Opera Gallery, an art gallery, explained why Monaco was chosen as an exhibition location, citing the presence of art enthusiasts among the residents who demand high-quality art.

Artcurial, an auction house established in Monaco since 2015, underlined the economic benefits of its sales, including the payment of value-added tax (VAT) and collaborations with events like the Monaco Art Week and sculpture sales organized with Monte-Carlo SBM.

The Grimaldi Forum, a cultural venue, hosts various renowned institutions and stages exceptional performances throughout the year, attracting 120,000 to 150,000 visitors. Catherine Alestchenkoff, the Director of Cultural Events, estimated that these events generate approximately €10 million in annual revenue for the country.

All the speakers acknowledged the unwavering support for culture from the Princely Family, particularly Princess de Hanover, who plays a significant role in Monaco’s cultural life.
