Résumé:
The torch for the Olympic Games 2024 was carried by six Monegasque torchbearers to the Princes of Monaco in a ceremony in front of the palace.
Histoire complète :
The Olympic torch was carried by six Monegasque torchbearers who brought it from the port of Monaco to the Princes of Monaco, who then carried it in front of the Palace. The torch relay also passed through the Principality of Monaco on its way to Paris, where the 2024 Olympic Games will be held. The first torchbearer was F1 driver Charles Leclerc, who handed it over to Alessandra Coletti, the first Monegasque woman to have participated in the Olympics. Coletti then passed it to table tennis player Xiaoxin Yang, who in turn handed it to bobsledder Rudy Rinaldi. Rinaldi, an athlete in the same sport as Prince Albert, passed the torch to the Prince himself and Princess Charlene. This was the second time the Olympic torch has passed through Monaco, 56 years after the first relay during the 1968 Winter Olympics in Grenoble. The Princes of Monaco carried the torch to commemorate their own Olympic history, as their love story began during the Olympics. In honor of the centenary of the 1924 Paris Olympic Games, Prince Albert II will celebrate his grandfather’s rowing Olympic victory on the Seine.
