Histoire complète :
SNCF Sud Azur, the new railway operator for the Azur region, has added two new trains to improve transportation in Monaco. These trains, with a seating capacity of 500 each, will be used to strengthen peak-time transportation with four long trains in the morning and evening between Cannes and Monaco. Additionally, the trains will help increase the frequency of service to every 15 minutes throughout the day, with a total of 124 trains in both directions. The goal of acquiring these trains is to improve rail connectivity to Monaco Monte-Carlo station, the third busiest station in the region with 8 million passengers in 2023. The constant increase in passenger traffic highlights the importance of trains as an alternative to private vehicles for commuters and visitors. The maintenance of the trains will be carried out at the new maintenance center in Nice Saint-Roch, reducing downtime. Monaco joined forces with the region to acquire these trains, with a maximum funding of 40.4 million euros provided to SNCF Sud Azur. The region will also cover the expenses for the train’s commissioning.
