Professor Franco Borruto, a consultant at the Department of Health and Social Affairs of the Government of the Principality of Monaco, recently participated in the 32nd World Congress on controversies in obstetrics, gynecology, and infertility held in Lisbon, Portugal. The COGI Congress covered various areas of gynecology, reproductive medicine, and maternal-fetal medicine and was attended by 1,200 professors and doctors from 85 countries. Key topics discussed included the optimal timing for labor induction in specific clinical situations, such as fetal macrosomia, premature rupture of membranes, and outpatient cervical maturation. Updates were also provided on the use of corticosteroids and magnesium sulfate for neuroprotection during pregnancy. The conference also examined techniques for cesarean sections, criteria for diagnosing prolonged labor, and screening for preeclampsia. Additionally, experts debated the best therapy to prevent preeclampsia recurrence and discussed strategies for genetic evaluation of fetuses with malformations and new fetal therapies.
