Prince Albert II of Monaco celebrated the 15th anniversary of the Italian branch of the Prince Albert II Foundation (FPA2) during his visit to Rome. The day began with the inauguration of the new administrative offices of the Monaco Embassy in Italy, followed by a meeting with members of the Italian-Monaco friendship section of the Italian Parliament. Prince Albert then visited the Church of Saint-Louis des Français to unveil a commemorative plaque in honor of his grandfather, Prince Louis I of Monaco, whose funeral took place at the church in 1701 when he was the ambassador of the King of France to the Holy See. The church is also famous for its three Caravaggio masterpieces. In the afternoon, Prince Albert inaugurated a second plaque at Palazzo Corsini (formerly Palazzo Riario), the residence of Prince Louis I from 1699 until his death in January 1701. This plaque joins the one dedicated to Queen Christina of Sweden, who also lived in the palace two centuries later. The building now houses some of Italy’s national collections of ancient art, including a painting from the collection of Prince Jacques I of Monaco, which was presented to Prince Albert on this occasion. The prince was then received at Villa Farnesina, the headquarters of the National Academy of Lincei, the oldest scientific academy in the world. During the prince’s visit, a memorandum of understanding was signed between the academy and the foundation to strengthen collaboration. The signing was followed by a conference titled “Building the Future: The Value of Ethics and Pragmatism in Environmental Sustainability,” organized by the Italian branch of the foundation. The aim of the conference was to encourage thoughtful reflection on the importance of an ethical approach to sustainability while exploring practical solutions for a sustainable future on a global scale. The day concluded with a prestigious gala dinner at Palazzo Colonna in celebration of the 15th anniversary of the Italian branch of the Prince Albert II Foundation.
