Résumé:
The Institute of Oceanography and the Foundation for Biodiversity Research have formed a collaborative research program focused on the Mediterranean.

Histoire complète :
The Oceanographic Institute of Monaco and the Biodiversity Research Foundation (FRB) have formed a joint research program to study marine biodiversity in the Mediterranean. The program aims to contribute to the goals set in the Kunming-Montreal Biodiversity Framework, particularly target 3, which seeks to conserve 30% of terrestrial and marine areas by 2030 through protected areas and conservation measures. As part of this initiative, a new immersive and interactive exhibition on deep-sea marine mammals will be available to the annual visitors of the Oceanographic Museum starting in spring 2025. The Mediterranean wing of the museum’s aquarium will also undergo renovation in 2027. The FRB will bring its expertise to the partnership, helping to compile an inventory of marine protected areas and effective conservation measures in the Mediterranean, as well as identifying challenges and solutions for their implementation. The ultimate goal is to improve knowledge and support effective biodiversity conservation policies in the Mediterranean region.
