Résumé:
A guide on how to obtain fiscal residency in Monaco, including the eligibility criteria and steps required.
Histoire complète :
Monaco is a highly desirable location for many individuals looking to establish residency due to its exceptional quality of life, cultural scene, and lack of personal income tax for individuals, with the exception of French citizens. To obtain fiscal residency in Monaco, there are three eligibility criteria: having a residence, having sufficient financial resources to live in Monaco, and not posing a risk to public order. For French residents in Monaco, they are required to continue paying income tax and real estate wealth tax due to a bilateral convention between France and Monaco. Applicants must provide documentation such as property ownership or lease agreements for their residence, demonstrate sufficient financial resources, and provide a criminal record from their previous country of residence. Once the necessary documents are gathered, applicants can request a residency card (formerly known as a resident card) from the government. The processing of the application may take several weeks, including verification of the documents and a meeting with the Public Security Department. Once approved, applicants can obtain their temporary residency card, which is valid for one year and costs 80 euros. There are additional residency card options available for individuals with longer periods of residency in Monaco.
