Histoire complète :
The Yacht Club of Monaco (YCM) organized the second edition of the Navicap Challenge – Trophée Elena Sivoldaeva, a regatta that promotes inclusivity in sports. From November 29th to December 1st, around 60 international crews, both able-bodied and disabled, gathered in Monaco for this sportive and supportive event. Despite changing weather conditions, crews from six countries, including England, France, Italy, Belgium, Switzerland, and Monaco, competed in four intense rounds, combining competition with human values. The presence of Prince Albert II and Elena Sivoldaeva, the event’s godmother, emphasized the YCM’s commitment to inclusion in sports. Gaspard Laguibaut and Anne Marteau, a French duo, clinched the victory for the second consecutive year with three wins out of four rounds. They were followed by the Italian crew Alessandra Cappellu and Maria Cristina Atzori, while Lynne and Stuart Swan from the UK completed the podium. The performance of the Monégasque crew consisting of Paul Papillon and Christiane-Eugénie Gautier, who finished 5th, was also applauded by the audience. The Navicap Challenge is more than just a regatta; it has become a symbol of the sport’s ability to transcend differences. Supported by Elena Sivoldaeva, the event highlighted the importance of inclusion and diversity in the sailing world. It is also part of Monaco and the YCM’s commitment to the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals, aiming to make water sports accessible to all. With this second successful edition, the Navicap Challenge is gradually becoming an essential event on Monaco’s calendar. The third edition is already looking promising. In the meantime, the YCM will host the Monaco Sportsboat Winter Series, a monthly program from December to March that offers training and regattas for monotype sailboats. This format brings together 350 sailors from across Europe to establish their winter training base in Monaco and prepare for the upcoming season’s major events.
