Histoire complète :
Monaco recently participated in the 177th session of the Council of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) in Rome from April 7 to 11. As an observer, Monaco engaged in discussions about various topics, including the critical situation in Gaza where the agricultural sector has suffered significant destruction, leading to severe food insecurity among the civilian population. The FAO’s work in crisis contexts in 75 countries, such as Burkina Faso, Lebanon, Niger, and Haiti, also received special attention during the session, highlighting Monaco’s prioritization of cooperation and emergency aid policies. In addition to budgetary discussions, the session featured talks on a potential reform of the FAO, with the official presentation of the process planned for the 44th FAO Conference in the coming summer. Monaco joined several statements by the European Union concerning global food and agriculture issues, as well as the ongoing and future activities of the FAO. The FAO Council, composed of 49 members, acts as the executive body of the organization.
