Résumé:
Monaco has opened its first water recycling car wash station as part of its water resource management policy, aiming to reduce water waste and reaffirm its commitment to the environment.

Histoire complète :
Monaco has taken a step towards its commitment to the environment by opening its first water recycling car wash station. As part of its water resource management policy, the Principality’s Government has decided to gradually renovate the car wash stations in public parking lots to equip them with a water recycling system. The first station to benefit from this is the one at the Heliport Parking. The wastewater from the site can now be reused indefinitely through a nearly closed-loop system. In the future, equivalent systems will be implemented at the car wash stations in the Wurtemberg parking lot, La Colle parking lot, and the Salines parking lot.

There are several advantages to water recycling car wash stations. Firstly, they greatly reduce the waste of drinking water. Thousands of cubic meters of drinking water are normally used and discharged into the wastewater system each year by traditional car wash stations. Secondly, this system is biologically-based. The wastewater is stored in aerial tanks for settling, then passes through a biological reactor for fine filtration and disinfection before being reused. Finally, these stations operate throughout the year, even during periods of drought in Monaco.

By implementing water recycling car wash stations, Monaco demonstrates its dedication to sustainable water management and environmental preservation. This initiative aligns with the principality’s ongoing efforts to promote a green and eco-friendly image.
