The 6th edition of the Monaco Tagging Tournament is set to take place on June 15th and 16th in Monaco. This event combines sport fishing with scientific research, focusing on fish tagging and tracking, as well as the observation of cetaceans and sea turtles, and the collection of marine debris. The tournament is organized by the Monegasque Federation of Sport Fishing and the Association of Sea Fishermen of Monaco. Alongside the tournament, fishing lessons will be available for children aged 5 to 16 as part of the International Game Fishing Association’s global educational program “Passport to Fishing.” The tournament welcomes amateur fishermen from various Mediterranean countries, as well as the United States and Seychelles, who are encouraged to contribute to research efforts by tagging the fish they catch using a standard protocol.
