Histoire complète :
The Government of Monaco has renewed its commitment in the fight against cancer by signing a financing agreement with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) for the “Rays of Hope” project. The agreement was signed by Isabelle Rosabrunetto, Director General of the Department of External Relations and Cooperation, and Rafael Mariano Grossi, Director General of the IAEA, during the agency’s 68th General Conference in Vienna. Monaco has been supporting the IAEA’s cancer projects since 2007, with a specific focus on the “Rays of Hope” project since 2022. This support aligns with the IAEA’s mandate to promote the peaceful use of nuclear science and technology for economic and human development, contributing to the achievement of Sustainable Development Goal 3 on “Good Health and Well-being for All.” The goal is to reduce premature mortality from non-communicable diseases by one-third by 2030 through prevention and treatment. It is estimated that by 2030, there will be 24 million new cases of cancer and 13 million deaths worldwide. Seventy percent of cancer deaths will occur in low- and middle-income countries, underscoring the importance of Monaco’s support.
