Histoire complète :
The Principality of Monaco is getting ready to welcome the Olympic Flame on Tuesday, June 18, 2024. Six Monegasque relay runners will carry the Flame, starting with Formula 1 champion Charles Leclerc at 14:15 in front of the statue of Juan Manuel Fangio on Port Hercule. The Flame will then be passed on to skier Alexandra Coletti, table tennis player Xiaoxin Yang, and bobsleigh driver Rudy Rinaldi, who will hand it over to Their Serene Highnesses Prince Albert II and Princess Charlene in front of the Malizia statue at Palais Square. The Olympic Flame will follow a specific route and will be visible to the public along the Port Avenue, at the corner of Market Square and Palais Square.
Before the relay, spectators at Palais Square will have the opportunity to see an archive montage highlighting Monaco’s participation in the Paris Olympics 100 years ago, as well as the bronze medal awarded to Monaco architect Julien Médecin for urban planning drawings, John B. Kelly’s Olympic gold medal in rowing, and the first passage of the Olympic Flame through Monaco 56 years ago on its way to the 1968 Winter Olympics in Grenoble.
To ensure the event’s safety, there will be traffic disruptions in the area between 1 PM and 3 PM. Pedestrians will not be allowed on Rampe Major between 1 PM and 2:45 PM and will have to follow designated paths. Security checkpoints will be set up along the route and at the entrances of Palais Square. For real-time updates on road impacts, please refer to the provided link.
