Monaco recently participated in the tenth session of the General Assembly of States Parties to the Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage at the UNESCO headquarters in Paris. The delegation included Her Excellency Anne-Marie Boisbouvier, Permanent Delegate of Monaco to UNESCO, as well as diplomats and heritage experts. The assembly focused on the preservation of living heritage worldwide and the implementation of the Convention. Key topics of discussion included reports from the Intergovernmental Committee and the Secretariat on their respective activities, the plan for the use of resources from the Intangible Cultural Heritage Fund in 2024 and 2025, the accreditation of new non-governmental organizations, and the celebration of the Convention’s 20th anniversary in 2023. Additionally, twelve new members were elected to the Committee, including Algeria, Barbados, China, the United Arab Emirates, Spain, France, Haiti, Nigeria, Uganda, the Dominican Republic, Ukraine, and Zambia. Monaco has been a party to the Convention since June 4, 2007, and is a donor to the Intangible Cultural Heritage Fund, supporting efforts to safeguard this heritage. Currently, 183 states are parties to the Convention.
