Résumé:
Monaco is hosting free events to raise awareness about the importance of bees and their protection in the face of threats such as pesticides and climate change.
Histoire complète :
Monaco has been involved in the “L’abeille, sentinelle de l’environnement” program since 2011, which aims to protect the environment through beekeeping. Several beehives have been installed in different locations in the Principality, including the rooftop terrace of the Stamp and Coin Museum in Fontvieille. These beehives are digitally monitored to assess the impact of the environment on bees and other pollinators.
The increasing threats to bees, such as pesticide use, monoculture, climate change, and the Asian hornet, highlight the importance of raising awareness about their fundamental role and the need for their protection. To promote this cause, the Urban Development Department is offering free activities for all ages on June 14th and 15th from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM at the UNESCO Garden on the Fontvieille terraces.
The program includes workshops on honey and bees, including honey extraction, making candles with natural wax, learning about hive construction, educational games, and photo exhibitions. The event aims to educate and engage the public in the conservation of bees and their significant contributions to the ecosystem.
All are welcome to participate in these educational and interactive activities, as we strive to protect our environment and the invaluable role played by bees and other pollinators.
