Résumé:
The government of Monaco supports the position of the SBM management and encourages the union to prioritize dialogue over actions that go against the interests of the majority of employees.
Histoire complète :
The Government of Monaco supports the position of the Société des Bains de Mer (SBM) in response to a strike notice by the union of the casino employees ahead of the Formula 1 Grand Prix. The government encourages the union representatives to prioritize dialogue over actions that go against the majority of employees’ interests. The government is committed to maintaining social equity and carefully considers the demands of social partners in the Principality. The Department of Social Affairs and Health is available to assist employers and employees in reaching fair and balanced agreements through legitimate exchanges. The government has not been made aware of any evidence supporting the claims of discrimination against women and/or Monegasques within the SBM. Additionally, the average salaries at SBM are significantly higher than those in the neighboring economic region, and the company offers generous benefits to its employees, often cited as an example by union representatives. The government regrets the Union of Monaco Trade Unions’ use of large-scale national demonstrations, particularly during events like the Grand Prix, as a means of pressure instead of engaging in constructive dialogue. This approach goes against the interests of the majority of employees who work hard to make these events successful. The Department of Social Affairs and Health reaffirms its availability to support the SBM management and union leaders in continuing their discussions if needed.
