Histoire complète :
On December 17, 2024, the Monaco Court judged a case of sexual assault that occurred at the Monaco Fair on November 2, 2024. The accused, a man born on July 15, 1989, in India and residing in Dubai, was absent during the hearing. He had been working on a construction site in Monaco for three months. Two young women, one of whom was a minor at the time of the incident, testified as victims.
According to the victims’ statements, the events took place during the Fair’s Attractions in the Principality. The first young woman was on a ride that shakes and drops its participants. When she fell in the ride, the accused man allegedly tried to help her by grabbing her hips and making her sit on his lap, where he then placed his hand on her crotch. The second victim stated that he had touched her left thigh. Both young women immediately went to the fair’s security to report the incidents.
During the investigation, a confrontation took place with the accused. Initially, he admitted to the acts and apologized, but then denied everything, explaining that he had no intention of inappropriately touching the young women.
The two young women underwent examination by a psychiatric expert, who concluded that they were in an acute reactive stress state. Their testimonies were deemed consistent and free of confusion. After much consideration, they decided to join the proceedings as civil parties, each seeking 500 euros for the damages suffered.
The prosecutor praised the courage of the young women, who, despite their young age, immediately alerted fair security agents, leading to the arrest of the accused man. Furthermore, he was found to be intoxicated and had consumed five or six glasses of whiskey at the time. “This man was aware that he committed grave acts, something traumatizing,” said the prosecutor, before seeking a one-year suspended prison sentence and a ban of at least one year from Monaco.
After deliberation, the court sentenced the individual to six months of suspended imprisonment and a one-year ban from Monaco. He is also required to pay each victim the sum of 500 euros.
