Histoire complète :
The Principality of Monaco celebrated a century of international intellectual cooperation at the UNESCO headquarters. The event, titled “Celebrating a Century of International Intellectual Cooperation: From Legacy to Future Action,” took place on September 13, 2024, in Paris. The commemoration aimed to assess the achievements and challenges faced by the International Institute of Intellectual Cooperation (IICI), the precursor to UNESCO, while exploring new perspectives to strengthen intellectual cooperation within the organization.

During the event, there was a focus on showcasing the exceptional collections preserved at UNESCO, including photographs and videos. Roundtable discussions involving scientists and historians encouraged reflections on intellectual cooperation and the work of UNESCO. Topics such as peacebuilding, mutual understanding, gender equality, technological development for the common good, and bridging the digital divide were addressed.

The event also aimed to raise awareness among member states and the general public about the rich documentary and audiovisual archives of UNESCO, particularly those of the IICI, and the importance of their preservation. In her closing remarks, Her Excellency Anne-Marie Boisbouvier, Ambassador and Permanent Delegate of the Principality of Monaco to UNESCO, expressed Monaco’s pride in being associated with the event. She highlighted the collaboration that emerged from research conducted in the UNESCO archives in celebration of Monaco’s 75 years of UNESCO membership. Madame Boisbouvier also emphasized Monaco’s contribution to the preservation of UNESCO’s archival films and invited other countries to cooperate in safeguarding this shared heritage.
