Monaco’s Minister of Health, Christophe Robino, recently met with his counterpart from Latvia, Hossam Abu Meri, to sign a cooperation agreement in the healthcare sector. The bilateral agreement aims to promote the exchange of experiences, development of specialized medical services, and coordination of prevention measures between the two countries. It also emphasizes the importance of sharing knowledge among medical professionals and welcoming opportunities to learn from Latvian medical institutions. During his visit to Latvia, Minister Robino toured the Eastern Clinical University Hospital in Riga, Stradins University (RSU), and several private healthcare facilities. The collaboration between Monaco and Latvia extends to the field of gynecology and obstetrics, with previous conferences facilitating the exchange of expertise. Both countries are members of the World Health Organization’s Small Countries Initiative, which brings together European countries with a population of fewer than 2 million. Monaco and Latvia are interested in furthering their cooperation, particularly in the area of medical tourism by offering healthcare services to Monaco residents in Latvian healthcare facilities. Latvian higher education institutions are also prepared to train doctors as part of international study programs.
