Histoire complète :
Over the weekend, the historic Italian fiefdoms of the Grimaldi family of Monaco gathered on the square of Palazzo Grimaldi. Alongside representatives from the French Alps and the Drôme region, ten Italian municipalities including Ventimiglia, Olivetta San Michele, Airole, Ripacandida, Campagna, Monteverde, Spinazzola, Poggiorsini, Terlizzi, and Canosa di Puglia, as well as two French municipalities (Breil-sur-Roya and Bathernay), were present. The Grimaldi family has established connections and settled in various regions of France and Italy throughout the centuries, with the Prince of Monaco holding numerous noble titles. This gathering aims to maintain the ties between the former “fiefs” that share a common past with the Principality. In 2018, the first meeting of the Historic Sites of Grimaldi of Monaco took place in Place du Palais at the Prince’s request. Each host site will showcase its historical connections with the Principality, as well as promote its region and cultural heritage. The event offers a range of activities for all ages, including cultural events, culinary tastings, folk dances, exhibitions of local artists and artisans, pony rides, square bowling matches, farm animals, and more. One of the highlights of the weekend will be the “Sounds and Lights” show, which will project the history of the guest cities’ ties to the Grimaldi dynasty onto the façade of the Palace. Admission to the event is free.
