Histoire complète :
Monaco participated as an observer in the 175th session of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) Council from June 10-14. The session focused on crucial issues related to the increasing global crises and conflicts, as well as examining various governance matters.

One of the significant outcomes of the session was the unanimous adoption of a decision concerning the situation in Gaza. The ongoing conflict and access restrictions in Gaza have led to extensive destruction of the agricultural sector and high levels of food insecurity. The decision recognized and commended the “Food For Gaza” initiative led by the Italian government in collaboration with FAO and the World Food Programme. It provided specific guidance for FAO to continue its technical assistance and prepare reconstruction efforts.

Continuing from previous sessions, the Council also adopted a decision on the impact of the war in Ukraine. The decision called on FAO to continue its actions in Ukraine, working closely with the responsible authorities to provide information on the damages caused to the Ukrainian agricultural sector.

During the session, Monaco supported several statements made by the European Union concerning global food and agriculture issues, as well as the current and future activities of the FAO.

It is worth noting that the FAO Council acts as the executive body of the organization and is composed of 49 members.
