Résumé:
Monaco has been placed on the gray list by the GAFI, but is making progress in implementing measures to combat terrorism financing and improve financial supervision.

Histoire complète :
Monaco has been placed on the gray list by the Financial Action Task Force (FATF), according to an official statement from the government of the Principality. However, the statement recognizes the significant progress made by Monaco in implementing various measures recommended by MONEYVAL in January of last year. The FATF has acknowledged the strengthening of measures to combat terrorism financing, the establishment of a new supervisory authority for financial information, the application of targeted sanctions, and improved risk-based supervision of associations. A timetable has been set for Monaco to comply with the FATF’s recommendations, with interim deadlines in May and September 2025 and a final deadline in January 2026. Monaco has expressed its determination to fully implement the FATF’s recommendations within the specified timeframes. This includes strengthening the understanding of the risks of money laundering related to tax fraud committed abroad, increasing requests to third countries to identify and freeze financial activities of criminal origin, imposing sanctions for non-compliance with money laundering and terrorist financing rules, improving the resources and efficiency of its financial intelligence unit, enhancing the judicial system, and increasing the seizure of assets suspected to be derived from criminal activities.
