Histoire complète :
AS Monaco secured a thrilling comeback victory against Auxerre, thanks to a hat-trick from Danish striker Mika Biereth. Despite a challenging first half, Monaco managed to overcome their opponents with a 4-2 win, maintaining pressure on Marseille and solidifying their third-place position on the podium.
Although the match seemed like a straightforward task for Monaco, it proved to be more complicated in the first half. They dominated possession but failed to trouble Auxerre’s goalkeeper. Auxerre almost took the lead in the 15th minute, but the goal was rightfully disallowed for offside.
Both teams struggled to create chances until the 35th minute when Monaco broke the deadlock. Denis Zakaria deflected a corner, and Thilo Kehrer capitalized on the opportunity, scoring with a controlled strike into the top corner.
Auxerre responded just before halftime with a long-range effort from Sinaly Diomandé that found the back of the net. They then took the lead in stoppage time from a penalty after Zakaria fouled Jubal in the box. However, Monaco’s goalkeeper Radosław Majecki saved the initial penalty before VAR ruled he was off his line, allowing Jubal to score on the retake.
In the second half, Monaco made some changes that immediately paid off. Biereth equalized in the 57th minute, and then completed his hat-trick in just eight minutes. The Stade Louis-II erupted in celebration as Biereth became the guest of honor.
Despite Auxerre’s efforts to come back, Monaco held on to their lead. Ado Onaiwu hit the crossbar for Auxerre in the 85th minute, but that was their last serious chance. Monaco’s victory boosts their confidence ahead of their upcoming match against PSG and the crucial Champions League playoff against Benfica.
