AS Monaco suffered a heavy 3-0 defeat against Inter Milan in their final group stage match of the Champions League, ending their hopes of reaching the top 8. President Dmitri Rybolovlev was in attendance at the Giuseppe-Meazza Stadium. The match quickly turned into a nightmare for Monaco, with a penalty awarded to Inter after just two minutes, converted by Lautaro Martínez. Christian Mawissa’s red card in the 13th minute left Monaco with 10 players for the rest of the match. Martínez scored his second goal three minutes later, putting Inter 2-0 ahead. Monaco struggled to create chances, and in the second half, Martínez completed his hat-trick. Monaco finished in 17th place in the group stage and will now face Benfica or PSG in the playoffs. Despite the loss, Monaco coach Adi Hütter praised Inter Milan and acknowledged the difficulty of playing with 10 men. He also expressed disappointment with the team’s performance but remained proud of their 13 points in the group stage. The draw for the playoffs will determine their next opponent.
