A recent study conducted in Monaco has shed light on the exceptional cognitive abilities of former Formula 1 drivers. Led by Dr. Benoît Paulmier and his team at CHPG, the study examined the brains of 12 retired drivers. The initial findings reveal long-lasting cognitive capabilities that are beyond the norm. Further research is needed to identify potential lingering effects of any past injuries, emphasizing the importance of early monitoring. This study was supported by the Automobile Club de Monaco and received authorization from the FIA. The results provide valuable insights into the mental acuity of these elite athletes and contribute to the understanding of the long-term effects of their profession.
