Histoire complète :
Monaco has inaugurated the public space of the eco-district Mareterra, six months ahead of schedule. The official unveiling pertains to the waterfront promenade and the Mediterranean garden that extends into the district on a hill. The press was not granted access to the construction areas, including any show apartments. However, it is known that renowned architects have designed some of the buildings. The eco-district cost a total of €2 billion to construct, involving 300 construction companies and employing 4,000 people. As a result, Monaco has expanded its territory by an additional 6 hectares, with three hectares allocated for private spaces and the other three for gardens and pathways. The project aligns with Monaco’s program for attracting innovative and environmentally friendly construction. Renowned architects were responsible for the buildings, including Le Renzo, the largest of them all, designed by Renzo Piano. The eco-district features 100 apartments, 10 villas, and 4 houses, with contributions made by various architects for the interior design. The public can now visit the stunning white stone pathway, which includes a meditation room, the Blue Grotto, and gardens landscaped by Michel Desvigne. The eco-district also includes an artificial pond with giant stones from the Burgundy quarry. In terms of sustainability, the eco-district has obtained various environmental certifications and utilizes renewable energy for 80% of its heating and cooling needs.
