A delegation from Monaco, led by Isabelle Berro-Amadeï, Minister of Foreign Relations and Cooperation, attended the Ministerial Conference on Science, Technology, and Nuclear Applications in Vienna from November 25 to 27, 2024. The conference aimed to strengthen international cooperation and explore innovations in the nuclear field, emphasizing the role of nuclear science, technology, and applications in achieving the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals by 2030. Isabelle Berro-Amadeï emphasized Monaco’s commitment to the peaceful use of nuclear science, technology, and applications in her speech. She also reaffirmed the Principality’s support for the activities of the IAEA’s Marine Environment Laboratories, hosted in Monaco since 1961, and highlighted the personal commitment of Prince Albert II to environmental preservation and the fight against the effects of climate change, particularly in the oceans. Additionally, she mentioned a recent partnership between the Prince Albert II Foundation and the IAEA to collaborate on areas such as ocean acidification, oceanic changes, and plastic pollution. Monaco prioritizes the IAEA’s activities in the field of human health, as demonstrated by its longstanding support for the fight against cancer through the “Rays of Hope” initiative.
