Résumé:
Monaco launches a national lung cancer prevention campaign, aimed at individuals over 50 years old and focuses on early diagnosis and raising awareness about the risks of smoking.
Histoire complète :
The government of Monaco has launched a national campaign called “Mese di Novembre senza fumo” (November without smoking) to prevent lung cancer. The campaign is aimed at individuals aged 50 and above who are insured under the Princely Health Fund of Monaco. Early diagnosis of lung cancer is crucial as it allows for the detection of the disease in its initial stages when treatment is most effective, increasing the chances of recovery. The campaign also seeks to raise public awareness about the risks associated with smoking and promote prevention policies.
Participation in the screening campaign is voluntary, and the data collected will be used to gather epidemiological information on lung cancer in the general population and to tailor prevention and treatment policies in the Principality. According to Christophe Robino, Minister of Social Affairs and Health, lung cancer is a scourge due to its devastating impact on health. It is often diagnosed at an advanced stage, but when detected early, the chances of recovery are significantly higher.
All insured individuals in Monaco aged 50 and above will receive a letter inviting them to undergo a free CT scan. Visits and examinations will be conducted at the CHPG, and appointments can be made by calling +377.97.98.97.41.
