Monaco has launched a joint vaccination campaign for influenza and COVID-19. The campaign aims to remind those at risk of the importance of getting vaccinated to prevent severe forms of the flu and COVID-19. The target recipients include individuals who are hospitalized or living in medical and social care facilities, regardless of their age, as well as people aged 65 and above, individuals under 65 with certain chronic illnesses, pregnant women, and individuals suffering from obesity. Vaccines adapted to circulating strains are already available at pharmacies in Monaco, with or without a medical prescription. People can get vaccinated directly at a pharmacy or request the vaccine from their primary care physician. The two vaccines can be administered simultaneously (by changing the injection site) or in a staggered manner, without the need to wait for a specific time between the two. It takes a few days for the vaccines to offer maximum protection after injection, and the goal is to be protected before the start of the epidemic.
