Prince Albert II of Monaco inaugurated the 43rd congress of the CIESM (Commission Internationale pour l’Exploration Scientifique de la Mer Méditerranée) at the Palazzo dei Normanni, the seat of the Sicilian Region, in Palermo. Accompanied by Anne Eastwood, the Ambassador of the Principality of Monaco in Italy, Laura Giugliano, the Director of CIESM, and Tidiani Couma, the National Delegate of the Principality of Monaco, Prince Albert II was welcomed to the Chiaramonte-Steri Palace by the Rector of the University of Palermo, Professor Massimo Midiri. During his visit, Prince Albert II chaired the Board of Directors meeting of CIESM, which aimed to review the organization’s recent activities and explore new opportunities to enhance scientific cooperation on maritime issues in the Mediterranean.
