The 84th International Dante Alighieri Congress was recently held in Rome under the theme “Italian, light in the world.” The President of the Monaco Committee, Maria Betti, was invited to attend, marking the first time the Principality of Monaco was included. During the conference, President Sergio Mattarella emphasized the importance of the Italian language as a reference point for immigrant communities around the world. The President of the Dante Alighieri Society, Andrea Riccardi, highlighted the cohesive and coordinated network of Dante committees operating globally. The event included the participation of the Secretary General Alessandro Masi and the responsible for Foreign Committees, Eugenio Vender. Maria Betti, as one of the invited presidents, shared the inclusive and innovative strategies of the Monaco Committee, which focuses on engaging young people and fostering partnerships with other associations and institutions. Minister of Foreign Affairs, Antonio Tajani, expressed his desire to organize an Italophone day for Italian speakers living abroad. Overall, the congress provided a platform to celebrate and discuss the international reach and significance of the Italian language and culture.
