The Association Monaco Paesi Baltici, in collaboration with the Monte-Carlo Philharmonic Orchestra, is organizing a film screening in Monaco on Wednesday, October 23rd. The film, “MUZA,” pays homage to a renowned Lithuanian pianist. The pianist, who has performed in international theaters and even at the Opera Garnier in Monte-Carlo, shares her story through music in the documentary film, spanning Russia, Lithuania, and France.
The film begins with Muza’s childhood under the grip of the Soviet occupation regime. After winning the Liszt-Bartok International Piano Competition in Budapest, Muza receives invitations to perform in Europe’s most prestigious concert halls. However, she is barred from leaving the country due to the Iron Curtain. Muza finally gets her chance in 1989 when the Soviet Union begins to crumble.
Through perseverance, Muza achieves international recognition. The film also highlights Muza’s recent battle against isolation, as she is unable to perform due to the pandemic. She reflects on the significance of freedom, love, and vocation in her life, and the sacrifices she has made for her talent.
