Didier Guillaume assumes office as the new Minister of State of Monaco, succeeding Pierre Dartout, who held the position for four years. Guillaume, a former Agriculture and Food Minister under the Macron presidency from 2018 to 2020, has a background in the Socialist Party and served as the group president in the Senate from 2014 to 2018. Despite not being proposed by the French Head of State, he has a longstanding relationship with the Sovereign of Monaco and they have mutual respect for each other. Unlike previous Ministers of State, Guillaume is neither an ambassador nor a prefect. In a social media post, he expressed that there is life after politics.
