AS Monaco has announced the signing of promising midfielder Lamine Camara for a five-season contract. Camara, a 20-year-old Senegalese international, will be with the club until June 30, 2029. Born on January 1, 2004, in Bignona, Senegal, Camara completed his training in his home country. His breakthrough came in 2019 when he joined AS Génération Foot, a club known for developing Senegalese talent. In 2021, he signed his first professional contract with the team. Camara’s performances quickly caught attention, and his crucial role in Senegal’s victory in the 2022 African Nations Championship (CHAN) earned him the title of man of the match in the final. He was also included in the tournament’s best XI. Camara continued to excel, winning the title of the best player of the U20 Africa Cup of Nations in 2023. He then joined FC Metz in Ligue 2 and played a significant role in their promotion to Ligue 1. In the 2023-2024 season, Camara impressed in Ligue 1 and was voted as the “young player of the season” by the public. He also showcased his talent in the 2024 Africa Cup of Nations.
