Histoire complète :
The Department of Health in Monaco advises citizens on how to prevent heat strokes. The body reacts differently to extreme heat based on age. Elderly individuals may have difficulty maintaining a temperature of 37°C due to reduced sweating, increasing the risk of heat stroke (hyperthermia). Children and adults sweat more to regulate temperature, making them prone to dehydration. Pregnant women, individuals with certain illnesses, and those taking specific medications should consult with their doctors and pharmacists before summer. Simple measures can be taken to avoid incidents, especially at the onset of a heatwave. These include staying attentive to any physical discomfort, even if it seems insignificant.

The Department of Health provides the following recommendations: drink at least one and a half liters of water, cool off with fresh showers or water sprays, avoid going out between 11 am and 5 pm, wear lightweight clothing and a hat if necessary, keep the house cool if air conditioning is unavailable. However, be cautious with fans as they may accelerate dehydration if the temperature exceeds 32 degrees. New fans are equipped with a water mist function.

Eat fresh foods and avoid tea, coffee, and sugary drinks as they can contribute to dehydration. If feeling unwell, contact the Monaco Fire Department (Sapeurs-Pompiers) at 112.
