Full Story:
Four young engineers (all women) from Politecnico di Milano were honored in Monaco for their sustainable construction thesis projects. The awards were organized by engineer Marco Casiraghi, president of ENGECO, who has been driving events like Mouse Trap and Energy Boat Challenge to encourage young engineers to create sustainable engines and vehicles. The competition was open to all students from the architecture and engineering faculties of Politecnico for the years 2023-2024. Over 50 graduated engineers submitted their theses, with a commission of experts selecting three projects as finalists. The objectives of the competition were to encourage, recognize, and reward talented architecture and engineering students who effectively incorporate principles of environmental, energy, and economic sustainability into civil construction projects. The finalists presented their projects to a mixed commission of Monegasque architects and professionals, as well as professors from Politecnico, at the Tunnel Riva. The first prize went to Elisa Bonatti for her Responsive Façade project, followed by Elena Bonatesta for Solar Shading, and Silvia Taddei, Marta Stevenazzi, and Riccardo Rivano for Façade Panels. The second edition of the competition is scheduled for 2025.
