Dr. Sylvain Chastanet has been appointed as the new President of the Rotary Club of Monaco, succeeding Pierre Weill. Founded in 1937, the Rotary Club of Monaco continues to uphold its values of service and fellowship. Dr. Chastanet, a surgeon in the Principality, will lead the club for the 2024-2025 season.
The official handover ceremony between Pierre Weill and Dr. Chastanet took place on June 25 at the Méridien Beach Plaza. During the event, the new President expressed his gratitude for the trust placed in him by the members and acknowledged the achievements of his predecessor, who successfully carried out 26 significant actions and distributed over 100,000 euros.
Surrounded by Mr. Jean Louis Grinda, Vice President of the National Council, and Mr. Jacques Pastor, representing the Mayor of Monaco, Dr. Chastanet has pledged to focus on themes that are important to him during his presidency. These include youth and sports, physical health, and well-being for the entire population. Visits to Parme and Bordeaux are also planned to strengthen international ties and cooperation among all the clubs.
In the period from 2023 to 2024, thanks to the generosity of donors and initiatives like the Monaco Rotary Golf Cup, the Rotary Club of Monaco facilitated environmental protection actions, supported education and youth, provided emergency aid to disaster victims, and participated in disease prevention and treatment campaigns.
