Full Story:
The Association for the Aid of Victims of Criminal Offenses (AVIP) and the Monte-Carlo Fashion Week (MCFW) have partnered to unveil “La tour des apparences” (The Tower of Appearances) at a conference held at the Yacht Club de Monaco. The purpose of this unique partnership is to give a voice to victims and shed light on the physical, sexual, moral, or verbal violence that women may experience. “La tour des apparences” consists of 18 Barbie dolls on one side, appearing happy and healthy, and 17 disfigured dolls and a red bench symbolizing femicides in Italy on the other. The bench represents Mara, who died at the hands of her former partner. A poignant moment during the conference was the testimony of Mara’s sister, Vera Facchetti, who paid tribute to her and raised awareness alongside Valérie Campora-Lucas, the AVIP’s Director-General, Federica Nardoni-Spinetta, President and Founder of the MCFW and the Chambre Monégasque de la Mode, and model Abigail Tara Lilly Kent. AVIP, an independent entity approved by Ministerial Decree, provides legal, administrative, and psychological support to individuals who have been victims of offenses in Monaco.
